Our Technologies
For our team at Moritis Shin Dentistry, we invest in the most advanced dental technology possible so our team can stay up-to-date on the latest treatment techniques. Because our Tenafly, NJ practice is dedicated to providing patients with the safest, most effective dental treatment options available, we utilize advanced technologies like digital x-rays, digital impressions, 3D scanning, and more!
Your visit to East Madison Dental Tenafly may include any of the following dental technologies:
Digital X-rays provide several advanced imaging options designed to save time, provide clearer dental photos, and expose patients to less radiation than traditional X-ray technology. At Moritis Shin Dentistry, our practice is focused on making your dental experience as comfortable as possible, including our fast, non-invasive digital X-Rays!
A 3D Digital CT Scan gives our dentists an in-depth, comprehensive view of your mouth, including your teeth, jawbone, jaw joint, and sinuses. CT scanning gives us valuable information about a variety of oral conditions, including:
Position of wisdom teeth Jaw-joint problems Sinus problems Receding bone levels resulting from periodontal disease Dental abscesses Dental implant planning, and positioning to avoid vital structures Jaw cysts or tumors Canal anatomy of the teeth Compared to 2D panoramic imaging, 3D imaging provides us with more information, in 3D – showing the exact position of nerves, sinuses and other vital structures of the mouth and surrounding structures. 3D scanning also provides us with better planning, improved imaging detail, and allows our dentists to take faster, more comfortable images during your appointment.
Diagnodent is a revolutionary new way for our dentists to find even the smallest areas of tooth decay and cavities. By using the advanced Diagnodent technology, our team at Moritis Shin Dentistry is able to treat small cavities and areas of tooth decay before they become bigger oral health concerns that may require multiple dental procedures.
Diagnodent is comfortable and takes only a few short minutes to scan the entire mouth for cavities and decay. Detecting tooth decay as early as possible helps eliminate the number of costly dental treatments that you may need down the line and helps treat small problems before they become serious dental cases. Not all cavities are noticeable without the help of the advanced Diagnodent laser — this laser helps locate even the smallest areas of decay.
While X-rays provide valuable information, they don’t always provide a complete view of everything that is going on inside the mouth. With the use of an intraoral camera at Moritis Shin Dentistry, our dentists can see every aspect of your teeth and mouth with incredible detail, uncovering cracked teeth, plaque deposits, cavities next to fillings, and excessive wear. When we can discover oral problems early on, your treatment is much less invasive and much more cost effective.
Our intraoral camera is small, about the size of the mirror we use during your regular hygiene appointments. You probably wouldn’t even notice we’re using it, except that with the intraoral camera, you have the opportunity to see everything we see on a monitor. This is a great tool to help you become more informed about your dental health, as it gives you a clear understanding of your teeth’s condition, and it allows you to make a more informed decision regarding your treatment options.
When it comes to taking impressions at Moritis Shin Dentistry, our patients don't have to worry about goop, gagging, or discomfort! Using the iTero digital scanner, your dentist can take a highly accurate digital impression. The new technology completely eliminates the tray and putty impressions, which many patients find unpleasant and often results in taking multiple rounds of impressions that can be rejected, broken, or misplaced.
The iTero scanner ensures a more accurate impression from the start, resulting in improved treatment and a more comfortable patient experience. Digital impressions give you the ability to see your teeth instantly in 3D, improving communication during the consultation and treatment process.
Through digital software, you'll then be able to follow the progress of the scans, including a 3D model of your teeth on our computer screen. The iTero scanner can be used for any restorative treatment including crowns, veneers, inlays/onlays, bridges, and implants, as well as orthodontic treatments like Invisalign®.
